Nawei Wight is a Canadian artist, born and raised in Singapore. Surrounded by art from a young age, she grew up immersed in both Eastern and Western art traditions, which deeply influenced her creative expression and inspired her to pursue painting full-time.
Nawei creates timeless depictions of mythological creatures and animals from both eastern and western origins to pass on meaningful stories, explore the rules of fungshui and depict timeless creatures filled with movement and life.
Nawei's paintings have been collected internationally, she is known for her use of Chinese ink and acrylics on rice paper or linen. Bold gestural strokes mixed with delicate details and a touch of color. Her work primarily depicts striking representations of auspicious animals or Chinese mythological creatures such as her signature dragon. Each piece depicts its own meaning and story, influenced by Fungshui, and a fusion of eastern and western philosophies.
